BIO

ANA MARIA BARBOS is a contemporary visual artist from Romania, born in 1968. She studied at the Academy of Arts in Bucharest between 1991 -1997 and is known for her modern approach to oil and acrylic techniques. She has been a member of UAP Romania since 1999 and focuses her artistic activity on painting, blending abstract expression with realistic figurative elements. Through her works, the artist explores the dynamic interplay between abstract forms and figurative representations, creating a unique atmosphere of tension and visual balance.

ANA MARIA BARBOS is recognized for her ability to transform everyday reality into a captivating visual experience, maintaining a balance between abstraction and figuration. The artist made her debut with a solo exhibition at Friedrich Schiller House, Bucharest, Romania. Each of her subsequent solo exhibitions has revolved around a central theme or idea that has visibly preoccupied her. The themes that attract her and around which she builds her personal exhibitions include the city, the sun, water, abstraction, trees, and birds. These are based on a deep introspection of the relationship between nature and the urban environment, becoming a reflection on the connection between humanity, time, and the surrounding space. Her works are often appreciated for their visual complexity, the subtle use of color to express emotions and complex experiences, and a wide range of natural and urban symbols.

She has participated in numerous group exhibitions held in museums and art galleries in Romania, Italy, Poland, and Yugoslavia. Her artistic work has been recognized in competitions, winning awards in 1996 and 1998. She continues to create and experiment in her studio, exploring new techniques and visual interpretations that push the boundaries of her artistic expression.
